Lion Brand is such a great company, I reached out to them asking if I could work with them and when they responded with a yes, I was grinning from ear to ear! I’ve loved working with their yarn since I picked crocheting back up after getting married and it has been such a privilege to work with them.
I love working with this type of yarn because it has great texture to it and no matter the project it works up quickly. I use Lion Brand Yarn the most when knitting hats because of that very quality, they work up fast!
For this project though I specifically chose to make a blanket with my Lion Brand yarn because I wanted to add some color and warmth to my living room with the beautiful color and fiber of the yarn.
I wanted a blanket with some weight to it but also had a open, lacy touch to it. What I came up with was exactly what I had envisioned. The squares are adapted from an old pattern I no longer use but I still love the lace touch it gave. I chose a lacy pattern and join as you go method for joining all my squares together for a couple of reasons.
1. The blanket is made and finished as you make all the squares (eliminates the step of layout).
2. I can make this blanket as big as I want because there is no “true” edge.
Right now the blanket is the perfect size for a small throw blanket but I have plans to make it big enough to be a throw for our king size bed (which is the best bed ever). It will also be nice to have it as a fun continual project I can go back to whenever I need a break from my other crocheting.
This blanket will always draw the eye and be a center piece in whatever room it is in. Probably the best thing about this blanket and yarn it’s made from, is it can be made from any color you choose. You are able to make it fit any kind of color decor and because of the pattern, it will fit perfectly and will feel like it has always been there.
It has just the right amount of cozy to be perfect for a snuggle blanket during the winter but it is also airy and lacy enough to stay out all year round.
Lion Brand will always be a favorite of mine and I hope it’ll be a favorite for you too!
The pattern will be available for this blanket soon but if you’d like to win a free copy then please enter over on my Instagram!
