3 Hour Quilt

Never quilted but what to try your hand at it? This quilt is perfect for the beginner. It only involves straight lines and gives you a great quilted texture.

From start to finish this quilt took me 3 hours to finish (excluding little interruptions for putting my babe down for a nap).

I made this quilt with fabric given to me by ADORNit as part of my ambassadorship with them. Other posts done during my ambassadorship can be found by clicking the “ADORNit Ambassador” tag underneath the head image.

So I decided to go monochrome with this quilt since the last one was bright and full of colors. I received this beautiful blue floral fabric along with the backing and binding blue green fabrics. The backing fabric is a gorgeous mint with gold accents sprinkled in.

I have never kept within the same color family for a quilt, so this was a nice change!

To make this super fast quilt you’ll need:

1 yard + 5 inches of backing

1 yard + 5 inches of batting

1 yard of top

This quilt doesn’t require any piecing (if it’s under a certain size) so all three layers should be sandwiched together and secured (see post here for instructions). This quilt works best with a yard of fabric for both top and back. I suggest getting the backing about 5 inches longer than a yard to help with shifting while sewing.

Once readied for the sewing machine take the quilt and sew a line right down the middle. Then work out from the middle to side. The space between stitches should be about a 1/2 inch.

Sew in the lines until the whole quilt is done. Then add binding. See this post here for how to make binding and this post here to attach binding.

Once the binding is on, wash and dry your quilt on delicate settings.

All done and ready to be snuggled with!

Super easy, super quick and gives you a great quilted look!
