Triple Crochet Stitch

Another new stitch to learn! I hope you’ve been enjoying the crochet basic series I’ve been doing, I certainly have been!

The triple crochet builds off of the double crochet (dc). You will be adding an extra yarn over in the beginning and working your way down to only have one loop on your hook, if that makes sense.

This stitch is used for building height quickly and also for creating a lace feel to your projects.

Let’s get started,

What you’ll need

– hook and yarn

– your beautiful self

Step 1 from a chain start: yarn over twice and insert your hook into the fourth chain from your hook.

Step 2 from a turn start: chain 3 and turn your work.

Step 3: yarn over your hook twice. You should 3 loops on your hook.

Step 4: insert your hook into the space and yarn over once.

Step 5: pull your hook through the space. You should have 4 loops on your hook.

Step 6: yarn over and pull through two loops. You should have 3 loops on your hook.

Step 7: yarn over once again and pull through 2 loops. You should now have 2 loops on your hook.

Step 8: yarn over once again and pull through the remaining 2 loops on your hook. You should end with one loop on your hook.

Step 9: repeat steps 2-8 for each new triple crochet stitch.

And there you have it! You just did your first triple crochet! Yay!
